How SEER2 Savings Are Calculated
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures how much cooling you get per unit of electricity across a season โ a higher number means less energy for the same comfort. SEER2 is the updated 2023 US standard, tested under more realistic conditions; it runs about 4.5% lower than the old SEER for the same equipment.
1. Seasonal Cooling Energy
Annual cooling electricity โ (tons ร 12,000 ร cooling-hours) รท SEER รท 1,000 kWh. The calculator converts your old unit's SEER to the SEER2 scale first, so the comparison is apples-to-apples.
2. Annual & Lifetime Savings
